As you know, our son, brother, husband, father, nephew, and friend, Toby Candilora, lost his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease) five years ago. He demonstrated willpower, honor and perseverance until he signed off duty on 10-07-2009.

Many of you have participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge (which has made ALS so visible!), supported the Candilora Cadets Walk to Defeat ALS, and posted to Toby’s Facebook page. Your love has buoyed our hearts when they were too heavy to carry ourselves. There are no words to express our gratitude.

We are writing to request your help in preserving Toby’s legacy. We intend to start a charitable fund for the five year anniversary of his passing. We are hopeful that we can unify all the beautiful people who have been honoring Toby since his death, building a venue for his young daughters, Taylore and Samantha, to engage with their father’s life, friends and loved ones as they come of age.

The 10-07 Charitable Fund will continue the work Toby started in life, supporting the ALS Association, building law enforcement leaders through education, and helping people find their own distinctive legacies. We intend to make grants at the local level.

At this time, we ask for your continued support. It is our intent to have ‘many hands’ join in this journey. To have the charitable fund established this year, we must raise $5,000.00 between now and December 22, 2014. Please consider helping us reach this goal.
